Write Back

This overview provides some background on the Write Back service and how this is being managed as part of Blueprint Two phase one

Background

Write Back has been a feature of claims processing in the London market for around a decade. Write Back messaging allows carriers to execute certain claim operations from within their own claims management system, without logging into portals provided by Velonetic. It gives carriers the ability to view and respond to claims data and documents currently available in the Claims Loss Advice and Settlement System (CLASS) for claims data, and documents in the Insurance Market Repository (IMR) through their own systems.

A Write Back Steering Group consisting of the LMA, DXC, IUA, LIMOSS, Lloyd’s, Velonetic, carriers and software providers has oversight of performance managing the prioritisation of change requests, the onboarding of carriers, and ensures that the on-going service can respond to future volumes and central service changes.

Supporting Write Back in Digital Processing Services (DPS)

Velonetic will be supporting Write Back transactions as part of Blueprint Two, phase one.

Write Back messages are XML data files. The aim is not to change the structure of these messages, although there will be changes to content and processes to cater for the new DPS platform and gateway. Carriers can manage claims by sending and receiving messages via the Market Gateway (ASG Adept) that update DPS ICOS for claim agreement, processing, and settlement.

Write Back supports the following parts of the claims process:

Process

Service Provided

Claim Event Notify Service

Issue claim business information and a document list when a relevant event is recorded on ICOS

Retrieve Claim Data Service

Enables Carriers to update the latest claim and document information in their own systems if required

Claim Response service

Enables Carriers to issue a response to a claim transaction recorded in ICOS

DRI Repository Search Service

Returns a list of policy and claim documents for a claim at the point at which the service is invoked

DRI Repository Download Service

Results in the requested document being returned from the IMR to a carrier’s own system

DRI Repository Upload Service

Enables the Carrier system to upload claim documents to the IMR

The new Write Back implementation will be proven through testing.

Velonetic currently sends batch Claims Workflow Triggers (CWTs) to a market firm’s SFTP site. CWTs will continue to be supported by Velonetic, interacting the services with ICOS and workflow services as claims progress through their lifecycle.

More detail on Write Back and CWTs can be found on the Blueprint Two website.

Service providers and Write Back

There are a number of service providers that support carriers in using Write Back in the London Market, and they are involved in discussions on how Write Back will continue to operate as part of Blueprint Phase one. Onboarding of carriers to use Write Back messaging is supported by Velonetic. Velonetic has been liaising with the Write Back Steering Group to answer key questions and help inform how the services can be accommodated going forward.

Get adoption ready

Blueprint Two will be delivered in two phases. At phase one cutover, all market firms must adopt the new digital services.
