Cutover

The transition process from our heritage systems to Digital Processing Services (DPS)

Cutover review

The programme has always planned for a full-service cutover, where all customers transition to DPS services for IPOS, ICOS, LORS, and Prop Treaty on the same day. However, a 'phased cutover' would be the more conventional option, due to the level of complexity. This is where cutover is launched sequentially in phases and heritage services continue in parallel with DPS for the elements of services not part of the first phase of cutover.

A market working group, including LMA, IUA, LIIBA, Lloyd's and Velonetic, was formed to assess these options; they were assessed against the following criteria:

Operational benefit

Will the market continue to function under this scenario?

Technical complexity

What will it take to design and build this option?

Time and cost impact

How does this option impact build/test timelines and costs?

Conclusions and next steps

A full-service cutover remains the preferred approach. A phased cutover would create additional delivery risk and has significant time and cost consequences.

Velonetic will organise an independent review of the conclusions reached in relation to time and cost consequences of switching to a phased cutover approach and the optimal format of a phased cutover, should this be required.

Get adoption ready

Blueprint Two will be delivered in two phases. At phase one cutover, all firms must adopt the new digital services.
