A cause that has brought the market together
The Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund was established to accelerate research into multiple myeloma, improve treatment options, and raise awareness of blood cancer. Through our partnership with Blood Cancer UK, we are helping support research and awareness initiatives that aim to improve outcomes for people affected by blood cancer.
Behind the fund is an extraordinary story
Following his diagnosis with multiple myeloma, Matthew Wilson transformed a personal challenge into a mission to improve outcomes for others affected by blood cancer. Through his advocacy and determination, he has inspired individuals and organisations across the London Insurance Market in support of research, awareness, and better treatments.
The impact of that collective support has been remarkable. Championed by Matthew, the insurance community has raised more than £10.5 million in support of blood cancer research, helping drive significant investment into multiple myeloma research and contributing to advances that are changing lives. Through this partnership, Velonetic is proud to contribute to this wider effort and help build on the progress already achieved.
Why this matters
Blood cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, yet awareness remains relatively low compared with many other cancers. Research into blood cancers has also played a significant role in advancing treatments that benefit patients across many cancer types.
At our internal launch session, Blood Cancer UK shared how research into blood cancers has helped shape advances in chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell treatment and CAR T-cell therapy, improving outcomes for patients far beyond blood cancer alone.
While significant progress has been made, multiple myeloma remains incurable. Continued investment in research is essential to develop more effective treatments, improve quality of life and help people live longer, healthier lives.

The partnership is already being brought to life through the efforts of our people. On 8 July, Louise Lea and Linsey Cranfield abseiled down the iconic Lloyd's building in the heart of the City of London to raise funds for the Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund. One of the most recognisable landmarks of the London Insurance Market, the Grade II-listed building provided a fitting backdrop for the first fundraising activity of our partnership.
Together, their efforts have provided an incredible start to our fundraising campaign, helping inspire support and build momentum for the months ahead.
We are incredibly proud of Louise and Linsey for leading the way and helping launch our fundraising activity in such a memorable way.
